HAWTHORNE, NJ — The 7th annual "Paws in the Park" is approaching in Passaic County, supporting local animal advocacy efforts — with a number of fun activities lined up.

Pet lovers can enter their furry friends in several contests, learn more about pet first aid and CPR, and potentially bring a new four-legged family member home during an adoption parade.

There will also be a "blessing of the animals," a demonstration by the sheriff's K-9 Unit and Mounted Unit, and an opportunity to get your pet microchipped. Bach 2 Rock will also perform some kid-friendly songs.

The event is Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Goffle Brook Park (675 Goffle Road, Hawthorne NJ, 07506).

  • Opening Ceremony: 10:30 a.m.
  • Pet Contests: 11 a.m. (must be signed-up in person by 10:45 a.m.)
    • Best Costume: Dress your furry friend in their most creative outfit and let their personality shine!
    • Best Trick: Show off your pet’s impressive skills—whether it's a classic sit or a unique performance!
    • Look-Alike: Do you and your pet share a striking resemblance? Join us to find the cutest doppelgangers!
  • Microchipping: 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • Pet First Aid/CPR Class: 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  • Adoption Parade: 12 p.m.
  • Blessing of the Animals: 12:30 p.m.
  • K-9 & Mounted Sheriff Unit Demo: 1 p.m.
  • Bach to Rock Kid Bands: 2 p.m.

The event is hosted by the Passaic County Board of County Commissioners, Friends of Passaic County Parks, Inc., and the Passaic County Sheriff's Department.
