'Positive Force' Meghan Celebrated As Wayne Star Student
The senior started a Social Justice Club at her school and worked to make it more eco-friendly, her nominator said. More about Meghan below:

WAYNE, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Roberta, who nominated daughter Meghan, grade 12, of Wayne. Meghan has done a lot of work making her high school campus more eco-friendly and social-justice minded, and she has also raised money to provide clean water for a city in Africa, wrote Roberta. She was also named Student-Athlete of the Year at her school.

How do you know the star local student?
I am her parent
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Meghan is a positive force for her school community. She is the president of the National Honor Society and has raised more money this year, then the past two years combined. All the money the organization raised has gone to support missions around the world as well as locally. They were able to purchase several water pumps and jugs for a city in Africa to help provide clean water. Locally she has made the campus of Mary Help of Christians more eco-friendly. Each classroom now has a recycling garbage can and the school is more involved with the town program. She also arranged for clothing bins to be placed on campus for Planet Aid. Meghan also started the Social Justice Club which provides factual information so students can make their own choices about what is going on in the world. Mary Help of Christians has a very diverse enrollment so many students have found this club to be valuable. Meghan was also named Student-Athlete of the year at Mary Help of Christians.
