Ring In The New Year In Wayne, North Jersey This Weekend

From ice skating to hiking to New Year's Eve parties, here are some things going on around Wayne as we prepare to say goodbye to 2023.

WAYNE, NJ — It's almost time to welcome in the new year, and there are celebrations and events in several communities around Passaic County coming up this weekend to ring in 2024.

If you're still looking for something to do in the Wayne area, here are a few ideas:

  • Fri, Dec 29, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sat, Dec 30, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
  • Sun, Dec 31, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Mon, Jan 1, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Younger kids and families can ring in 2024 early with plenty of appetizers, non-alcoholic beverages, and video games at a 4 p.m. event, complete with an all-ages ginger ale toast. Then at 9 p.m., the celebration continues for those who want to bring their friends and count down until midnight. The later event includes appetizers, drink tickets, and video game play as well as a toast at midnight. Both events require a ticket.

Make your entrance into 2024 at the New Year's Eve party at 46 Lounge in Totowa

"New Jersey's most extravagant party" runs from 8 p.m. Sunday all the way until 6 a.m. Monday for those who want to dance their way into the new year. This event includes a 5-hour premium open bar, a full buffet dinner, and music by DJ Encore alongside several other DJs spinning top 40 and today's hits, high-energy dance music, Latin music, and more. Tickets also include a continental breakfast at 4 a.m. New Year's Day.

General admission is $100, and VIP packages are also available.

Celebrate with the kids, or your adult friends, at The Shannon Rose in Clifton (and in Ramsey)

A Kids' "Rockin' New Year's Eve Party" is Sunday, Dec. 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a countdown to when the clock strikes midnight in Dublin, Ireland and plenty of fun with face painting and bagpipe music.

Then for adults, there is a 4-hour open bar beginning at 9 p.m. and also a three-course dinner available - with live music and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets run from $75 for just the open bar, and $100 for the bar and three-course dinner.

Get out and about for a "First Day Hike" in Hewitt

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is inviting residents to "put your best foot forward" and learn more about nature and the history of their local parks with more than 30 First Day Hikes on New Year's Day. All of the events are free and will have a guide, though pre-registration is required for some.

Wawayanda State Park staff will lead a hike beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, which is scheduled to end at 1 p.m. The 5.5-mile hike is on a moderate incline, going around the perimeter of Wawayanda Lake in Hewitt.

The hike is for all ages, and dogs on a leash are welcome. The course is not wheelchair or stroller friendly. The meetup location is at the Beach Parking Lot - 885 Warwick Turnpike, Hewitt, NJ 07421.

Registration is required by calling the park office at 973-853-4462 and leaving a message, or contacting the Wawayanda State Park Facebook page. Registered participants will be notified if the hike is cancelled.
