Traffic Signal Improvements At 70+ Intersections Proposed In Passaic County
Residents and business owners in Wayne, Clifton, Passaic, Paterson, Haledon, and Pompton Lakes can chime in at sessions on Aug. 6 and 14.

WAYNE, NJ — County officials are seeking community input on a project aimed at improving traffic congestion and safety at dozens of intersections in Passaic County, including in Wayne.
The proposed Passaic County Regional Traffic Signal Optimization project spans a 19-mile corridor, also including Clifton, Passaic, Paterson, Haledon, and Pompton Lakes. Two public information sessions are scheduled on Aug. 6 and Aug. 14 for residents, commuters, and business representatives to learn more about the project's scope and provide their feedback.
Planned improvements "are specifically focused on the development and implementation of optimized traffic signal timings at 71 signalized intersections," officials said.

These traffic signals are located along the following streets: Main Avenue/Street (CR 601 / 624) in Clifton, Passaic, and Paterson; West Broadway (CR 673 / 708) through Paterson and Haledon; Central Avenue (CR 673) in Haledon and Wayne, and Paterson-Hamburg Turnpike (CR 504, 673) in Wayne and Pompton Lakes, from Ratzer Road to Ringwood Avenue.
The project is also aimed at reducing air pollution from congested traffic, as well as improving signal time and enhancing safety by creating "a more synchronized traffic flow that can attain traffic mitigation without increasing speeds," the county said.
