WAYNE, NJ — A delivery driver in Wayne had a close call on Monday, when a lightning bolt touched down just feet away as they delivered their package.
Footage shows the delivery driver knocking on the recipient's door, and immediately being startled by the crack of thunder and flash of lightning.
“I thought that was going to hit me,” the driver told the package recipient moments after the lightning strike.

The situation serves as a reminder of the dangers of lightning strikes. According to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, lightning causes an average of 67 deaths each year nationwide.
On Monday, a North Jersey man was pronounced dead after being struck by lightning on a Sussex County golf course last week.
