Wayne Hospital Celebrates Top Safety Rating In Leapfrog Grades

Fewer than 30 percent of hospitals received an "A" in the spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades.

WAYNE, NJ — The Spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades named St. Joseph's Hospital in Wayne as one of the top hospitals in the country for patient safety.

The independent, nonprofit watchdog Leapfrog Group assigned safety grades, ranging from “A” to “F,” for 3,000 general hospitals on how well they prevent medical errors, accidents and infections.

Including St. Joseph's Hospital - Wayne, a total of 30 hospitals in New Jersey were given "A" grades in the latest Hospital Safety Grades, putting them in the top third in the country.

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson earned a "B" grade, which is the same mark that St. Joseph's - Wayne got last fall.

Dr. Dustin Riccio, the president and CEO of St. Joseph's Health, vowed that the regional health system will continue to maintain "the highest standards of care for our patients and community.”

“These scores reflect the unwavering commitment that our physicians, nurses and all St. Joseph’s Health staff share to always place our patients at the center of everything we do,” Riccio said in a statement.

On social media, St. Joseph's Health congratulated their staff and shared a short video of people cheering the 2024 safety grades.
