Wayne Officials Warn Graduation Attendees Of Heat Advisory, Extremely High Temps Expected
Officials are urging attendees to consider different viewing options following a "mass casualty event" at Paterson's graduation ceremony.
WAYNE, NJ — Wayne officials are warning residents to proceed with caution to Tuesday night’s high school graduations, citing the extreme heat advisory in the county.
Wayne Hills High School and Wayne Valley High School seniors are scheduled to graduate Tuesday night in two outdoor ceremonies. Officials from the Wayne Office of Emergency Management are urging guests to consider watching the graduation ceremony on livestream rather than in person.
“Due to the extreme heat, all those that have reason to attend are encouraged to consider the available live streams that both schools are offering to view the graduation rather than attending in person on the field,” the announcement read. “Both schools will have the option of viewing the livestream in air conditioning in their auditoriums. Keep in mind, the auditoriums may reach full capacity.”
