WAYNE, NJ — The polls have closed, and the results for Wayne’s Mayoral Primary Election have been tallied. According to unofficial election results, Donald Pavlak has taken the lead for the spot on the democratic mayoral ticket.
Two Democrats vied for a spot on the ticket come November — School Board President Pavlak and James Freeswick.

One Republican ran uncontested for the republican nomination — Incumbent Mayor Christopher Vergano.
Below are the unofficial results of the primary election according to the Passaic County Clerk's Office:

- Donald Pavlak, Democrat: 2,418 (63.77%)
- James Freeswick, Democrat: 1,331 (35.10%)
- Christopher Vergano, Republican: 3,488 (98.12%)
The Passaic County Clerk's Office shows 100% of districts reporting.
The New Jersey General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
