Wayne School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Wayne is September 7. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Wayne School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 9/7: First Day of School
• 9/21 & 9/22: Rosh Hashanah (No school)

October

• 10/9: Full Staff Inservice Day (No school for students)

November

• 11/6 & 11/8: Elementary Minimal Day - Parent Conferences
• 11/7: Full Staff Inservice Day (No school for students)
• 11/9 & 11/10: NJEA Convention (No school)
• 11/22: Minimal Day: Start of Thanksgiving Holiday
• 11/23 & 11/24: Thanksgiving (No school)

December

• 12/25-1/1: Holiday Recess (No school)

January

• 1/15: Martin Luther King Day (No school)

February

• 2/16 & 2/19: Winter Recess/Presidents' Day (No school)

March

• 3/30: Good Friday (No school)

April

• 4/2-6: Spring Recess (No school)

May

• 5/18: Memorial Day (No school)

June

• 6/20-22: High School Minimal Days - Final Exams
• 6/22 & 6/25: LAST DAYS FOR ALL STUDENTS- MINIMAL DAYS
• 6/26: Last Day for Teachers - Full Staff Inservice Day

Unused Emergency Days - Schools Closed

4 unused emergency days: May 24, 25, 29, and 30

3 unused emergency days: May 24, 25, 29

2 unused emergency days: May 25, 29

1 unused emergency day: May 25

Make-up Emergency Days - Schools Open

If more than the allotted emergency days are used, school will be in session on the following make-up days:

If one additional day is needed: April 6

If two additional days are needed: April 5 and 6

If three additional days are needed: April 4, 5, and 6
