Wayne Student Among Winners Of County Calendar Contest
The annual contest asks students to design posters for the county's calendar.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ - Artwork created by students from around Passaic County will grace the walls of municipal buildings, libraries, senior centers, schools and county offices after being named winners of the county’s calendar contest.
The annual poster contest, which is run by County Clerk Danielle Ireland-Imhof’s office, invites fourth graders at public and private schools to create posters “reflecting Passaic County’s great history, local interest, recreational sites and cultural diversity; creating a greater sense of community and pride for their county.”
Also, with 2020 being the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote, the clerk’s office added a second design theme to this year’s contest – Women’s Suffrage. Altogether, 24 entries were selected, 12 for the My County calendar and 12 for the Women's Suffrage calendar.

Each of the young artists that participated in the contest received a Certificate of Merit.
This year, two students from Immaculate Heart of Mary in Wayne were among the kids recognized for their work. Alexander Kolatac's poster is featured in the My County calendar for the month of January, while Vanna Ballaera received an honorable mention for her design.

“The annual poster contest is a special time of year that I and my office always look forward to. I am especially grateful for the teachers, administrators, and parents who encouraged these young artists to think outside the box regarding their designs. This year, we saw the highest number of poster entries in Passaic County’s history of the poster contest and some of the most creative entries ever. This program helps us continuously appreciate a child’s perspective of our County’s rich history and of the world around them” said Clerk Ireland-Imhof.
