WAYNE, NJ — More showers are in the cards for Wayne residents on Thursday, with heavier rain and thunderstorms set to slam the state again on Friday as Tropical Storm Debby chugs north.
Forecasters said that Debby is weakening as it heads this way — but the deadly storm is still expected to bring severe storms, lots of rain, and possibly some tornadoes to the Garden State.
The first rain bands will hit New Jersey on Thursday, but forecasters said Friday is the primary concern for weather-related issues including flooding, power outages, and wind damage.

The National Weather Service has put Wayne and Passaic County at a "slight" risk for scattered flash flooding on Friday, and a "marginal" risk (the next level down) for damaging winds and severe hail.

"Flooding and severe weather potential will be dependent on the track of Debby and the speed of the approaching cold front," weather experts with the New York City NWS office said.
The good news is that as Debby leaves, it'll usher in a period of drier and cooler weather with lower humidity, according to the forecast.
