Services Start For Girl, 14, Who Died At Soccer Team Sleepover

Kara Lemanowicz died suddenly on September 5 at a soccer team sleepover in South Jersey. She was 14.

Services begin today for a South Jersey teen who died suddenly at a soccer team sleepover.

Kara Lemanowicz, 14, was found unresponsive in a tent at a sleepover in Gloucester County, around 9 a.m. Saturday, according to 6abc. The homeowners called 911, and paramedics pronounced the girl dead at the scene.

Kara Lynn Lemanowicz of Voorhees Twp died suddenly on September 5. She was 14.

She was the loving daughter of David and Kelly (nee McGuire) Lemanowicz, the dear sister of Alea Jean and her “furry brother” Rio.

She was the beloved granddaughter of Ronald and Dolly Lemanowicz and is also survived by her aunts and uncles Ronand Donna Lemanowicz, Steven and Karen Lemanowicz, Michele Stamper (Chappy), Tracy Ruth (Dave), Brian Murphy, and Glenn Ruth; cousins Jacqueline and Chuck Dougherty, Gina and Charles Pusloski, Jennifer and Brendan Byrne, Steven and Jason Lemanowicz, Paige and Morgan Ruth, Chase and Allie Dougherty, Nolan, Sheppy, and Landon Byrne.

Kara was an avid soccer, lacrosse and basketball player who loved to babysit and care for children. She had a special fondness for special needs kids. She was a member of the incoming Freshman Class of Eastern High School.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday evening 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Church 27 Kresson Gibbsboro Rd. Gibbsboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Cremation and interment will be held privately.
