'United by Light' Shines On Westfield In Support Of Health Crisis Awareness

All of the proceeds from the kits go to local programs.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Town of Westfield is lighting its streets to spread awareness of mental health well-being and support across the community.

The Westfield "United by Light" program is back for the annual sale of candle kits that residents buy and build to join together in support of local initiatives and resources. Displays are typically placed on sidewalks, walkways, and driveways.

All of the proceeds from the kits go to local programs at various agencies that help residents afford therapy, emergency care, and other enrollment in mental wellness programs in Westfield and throughout Union County.

Each kit costs $25 and includes 10 candles, 10 bags, directions, and sand. The kit has enough products to light a 50-foot area.

Sales end on Nov. 15 and are followed by the official "Light the Night" launch on Nov. 16.

"The funds from United by Light...will help Caring Contact recruit, train, and support more Listeners," said Mary Claire Givelber with Caring Contact, one of the organizations benefitting from the fundraiser, "making it possible to answer more calls and help even more people in crisis."

The United by Light program is organized by the Westfield United Fund, a 501c(3) nonprofit that works in different ways to enhance the lives of individuals and families in the Town and across Union County.
