12-Year-Old Riding Bike In Westfield Hit By SUV Monday: Police

A 70-year-old resident driving a BMW SUV hit the bicyclist while driving through a major intersection, police said.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A 12-year-old boy riding his bike in Westfield was hit by a BMW driver Monday afternoon, according to Westfield Police.

The driver of the BMW SUV, a 70-year-old woman from Westfield, was traveling north on Central Ave. crossing North Ave. with the right of way when she hit the bicyclist at around 3:39 p.m., Michael Walsh of Westfield Police said.

The accident resulted in minor injuries to the boy's knee and lower leg, Walsh said. He declined treatment and was not sent to the hospital.

Walsh said there are no reported injuries for the driver.
