$52K In Grants Awarded To Westfield For Town Projects
More than $1.14 million was spread out throughout Westfield and the surrounding areas.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Town of Westfield received two grants from Union County to help with the development of two community projects.
A Kids Recreation Trust Fund Grant of $45,000 will fund the rest of the renovation of the Memorial Park tennis courts in 2026. Another $7,600 was awarded in a Greening Union County Grant to help plant new trees next year throughout the neighborhood.

"Each year, these grant programs strengthen the public spaces that bring our communities together," Commissioner Chair Lourdes M. Leon said.

The two initiatives are provided under the Union County Open Space, Recreation, and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. In 2025, more than $1.14 million was spread out through municipalities and local organizations through these programs and a third "Preserve Union County" award.

Union County Commissioner Sergio Granados pointed to efforts like these that "ensure the stories and history that define Union County are preserved for future generations."
"Together, we are building communities that are healthier, more resilient, and more vibrant," he added.
