Dog Shot Dead After Attacking Police In Union County
The officer was rushed, and bitten by the charging dog.
ELIZABETH, NJ - A pit bull was shot dead on Monday morning after it attacked police searching for a suspect in a robbery case, authorities said.
According to Elizabeth Police, officers responded at around 11:40 a.m. to the 1000 block of Olive Street and were given consent to go in the front door of the home. One officer headed towards the backyard to monitor for any appearance of the suspect, where he was then rushed and bitten by a pit bull.
One shot was fired, killing the dog at the scene. The officer was taken by EMS for treatment to his injuries from the attack.

The robbery was connected to a domestic violence situation, police said. No arrests have been made in the case.
