People who want to improve their English speaking and writing skills can take free classes through The Adult School @ the Westfield Library.

The Westfield Memorial Library is the site of free classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) and an ESL Book Club, all offered through the Adult School.
Established in 1937, the Adult School is a non-profit that provides a comprehensive range of high-quality learning experiences throughout locations in Summit, Madison, Chatham, Westfield and other communities.
Three levels of ESL are taught on scheduled Fridays from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Beginner classes, which run from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., will be taught on October 24, November 21, December 5, 12, and 19. This class is for students who can read and write in their own language but have no experience speaking English. Through listening, speaking, reading and writing, students can focus on basic vocabulary, pronunciation and beginning speaking skills. The course will improve the student’s comfort and familiarity with speaking English.
