Family Left Homeless After Electrical Fire In Westfield
Heavy smoke was found throughout the two-story building.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A Westfield family is without a home after an electrical fire tore through their basement early Sunday morning, said Westfield Fire Chief Michael Duelks.
At around 12:15 a.m., the Westfield Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Tamaques Way.
Firefighters entered and found heavy smoke throughout the entire two-story home.

Crews found the fire actively burning in the basement, said Duelks.
Everyone was already safe and out of the home, and no injuries were reported.

Union County Fire Mutual Aid agencies also responded and were staged at the Westfield Fire Department to help with additional calls. At around 1:10 a.m., the fire was deemed under control.

The Westfield Fire Department reminds residents to check smoke alarms monthly and replace them when they are 10 years old.
