Former Westfield Firefighter Dies, Laid To Rest Friday

A 31-year veteran of the Department, Giordano was also a member of the United States Army.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their former firefighters.

On Nov. 5, firefighter Peter Giordano, 92, died peacefully at his home in Palm Coast, Florida, according to his obituary.

Giordano was a 31-year veteran of the Westfield Fire Department, serving from 1956 through 1987.

"We offer our condolences to the family and friends of retired FF (firefighter) Giordano," the Department said in a statement.

After graduating from Westfield High School in 1951, Giordano went on to serve in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.

Along with the devotion to Westfield and his country, he was a member of the Elks and enjoyed outdoor sports like golfing and fishing.

Giordano was loved by others for his "kind heart, sense of humor, and devotion to his family," according to his obituary, and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Antoinette, his two sons, and his daughter.

He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Friday.
