WESTFIELD, NJ — As large redevelopment projects often spark intense debate among Westfield residents and council members, HBC Streetworks Development will be hosting a series of information sessions to answer residents' concerns about the proposed development at the old Lord & Taylor site.

Streetworks will answer outstanding questions about the proposed One Westfield Place development at the Preview Center located at 76 Elm Street. The information series will address topics including traffic mitigation, "the future of office space," planning and design and wellness and sustainability.

"We have been actively engaging with community members and collaborating with the Town of Westfield for over three years, during such time we’ve had the pleasure of hearing from a long list of residents on the future of their downtown," said Carolina Simon, Vice President of Development at HBC | Streetworks Development.

Many residents have expressed concerns about increased traffic and congestion as a result of the redevelopment. One Westfield Place is proposed to be a 731,000 square-foot complex that includes office space, 154 residential apartments, retail and more.

But Mayor Shelley Brindle has argued that the proposal will actually improve long-standing parking and congestion challenges, as well as provide new spaces for art and events and new sources of tax revenue.
