Hanukkah 'Chalk The Walk' Postponed In Westfield Due To Rainy Weather
The Hanukkah Hoopla event has been pushed to the weekend due to a forecast of heavy rain and a possible thunderstorm on Thursday.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Due to a forecast of heavy rain and a possible thunderstorm Thursday evening, Downtown Westfield's Hanukkah Chalk the Walk has been postponed.
The event will now take place on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 1 p.m. Community members are invited to check out the Hanukkah chalk art from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the sidewalk on Central Ave. near Banana Republic.
A dreidel contest and a visit from "Hanukkah Harriet" is still set for Friday, Dec. 23 at Kirschenbaum Baking Company at 62 Elm Street.

The dreidel contest will feature dreidel spinning, stacks of gelt and plenty of "Hanukkah Hoopla."

Here's the forecast for Thursday night into Friday, according to the NWS:
Thursday Night
Rain before 1am, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm between 1am and 4am, then rain likely after 4am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature rising to around 55 by 4am. Breezy, with an east wind 17 to 20 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Friday
Rain before 1pm, then a slight chance of snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Temperature falling to around 20 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
