Lunch and Learn with The Westfield Historical Society

"Let Me Tell You a Story" is the title of a presentation of the Westfield Historical Society's First Wednesdays' Luncheon on Oct. 7.

“Let Me Tell You a Story” is the title of a presentation of the Westfield Historical Society’s First Wednesdays’ Luncheon being held on October 7, 2015 at Echo Lake County Club, 515 Springfield Ave, Westfield, NJ.

This month’s presentation will be given by Ms. Ellen Callahan, Collection Manager of The New Jersey State Archives in Trenton, NJ. Her presentation will start with a brief overview of the collections held by the State Archives. But the talk will be more than just the facts. Ms. Callahan will also focus on how historic documents, the raw data of history, can paint a fascinating and insightful account when combined. New Jersey’s public records, which include state laws,
board minutes, annual reports, correspondence, and photographs, can be brought together to provide a wealth of background information that give a broader account of significant events of New Jersey’s past: a history, a narrative…..a real story.
