Man Fatally Hit By NJ Transit's Raritan Valley Train In Union County

The Raritan Valley Line service was suspended in both directions on Sunday as a result.

PLAINFIELD, NJ — A man was fatally hit by an NJ Transit train on Sunday morning in Union County.

At around 10 a.m., Raritan Valley Line train 5515, which left Newark Penn Station at 9:38 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Raritan Station at 10:42 a.m., hit and fatally injured an adult male trespasser in the vicinity of Grant Avenue just west of Plainfield Station, said NJ Transit authorities.

No injuries were reported to the about 37 customers and crew on board the train.

Raritan Valley Line service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Plainfield and Bound Brook stations.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
