'Marc Has An Amazing Spirit': Westfield Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Westfield.

Westfield, New Jersey — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Adam Cohen who nominated Marc of Westfield, New Jersey.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
We moved to Westfield New Jersey, after the lower Manhattan garage collapse last April. Marc grew up in NYC and even started High School at a specialized High School for the arts with a focus on film (one of the perks of being a NYC student)... But the garage collapse forced us out of our apartment (only the second place Marc had called home). Being 15 and starting over without knowing a single person in town could simply crush most teenagers. Marc has excelled at school having A-/B+ for most of the year at this point. He still hasn't found a group a friends to call his own but he is focused on the future on following his dreams to be involved in film.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Marc has an amazing spirit and has shown real grit over these last 12 months.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Marc Cohen!
