La Bendita opened their first location in Plainfield in May of 2021. The owners saw a lack of authentic Mexican food in Westfield and wanted to expand their local presence.
Owner Naga "Avi" Raya previously told Patch that the restaurant is most know for its Birria tacos, which consist of marinated beef or chicken, along with onion, cilantro and melted mozzarella wrapped in a warm corn tortilla.
