Rumble Boxing To Open Studio In Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ — Put on your boxing gloves — a new workout studio is coming soon to Westfield.

According to Mayor Shelley Brindle, Rumble Boxing will open in the former Victoria's Secret space on East Broad Street this April.

"Rumble joins the more than 30 new businesses that have opened this year, and will breathe new life into a prime downtown location," Brindle wrote in her most recent mayor's update.

This will be Rumble's third studio to open in New Jersey. One recently opened in Livingston and another is set to open in Hoboken.

Founded in New York City in 2017, Rumble Boxing is a popular adult group-fitness concept. The brand is known for 45-minute classes consisting of 10 boxing rounds each.

Half of the class is spent exploring the skills and drills of boxing, and the other half is spent on the "transformative power" of resistance training, according to the website.

Of the 10 rounds, five rounds involve upper-body boxing and five rounds incorporate HIIT exercises (exercises using a bench and free weights, cardio moves — jumping jacks, burpees, etc. — and core work).

In addition, every class begins with a 5-minute tutorial on the basic punches.

The studio also blasts custom hip-hop and house mash-ups as you get a sweat going.

"And while the music will help you smash, the vibes in the room are decidedly inclusive and positive," the website states. "When we say, '10 rounds, 2 fists, ZERO experience necessary,' we truly mean it."

The Westfield Zoning Board was previously considering a request to build a coworking space and coffee shop at the former Victoria's Secret location.
