'Ryan’s Story' Bullying Presentation Returns to Westfield
The father of a teen who committed suicide after being bullied speaks to parents.

Guest speaker John Halligan visits Westfield to speak about cyber-bullying after his 13-year-old son Ryan committed suicide in 2003 after being relentlessly bulled by his peers.
The presentation will be held in the Westfield high School auditorium on Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and is hosted by Roosevelt and Edison Intermediate Schools.
Halligan provides a unique perspective to parents as he speaks about what it was like to be in a family of someone bullied and the aftermath of the impact teen suicide has on a family.
“There are many powerful life lessons imparted, including forgiveness and finding ways to turn a tragedy into hope for others,” the Westfield School District explains.
Halligan has appeared nationally on a variety of news stations and talk shows in order to share with paresnts ways to deal with bullying.
