Westfield Football No. 1 in County in Star-Ledger Rankings

The Blue Devils win against Elizabeth jumped them to No. 1 from the seventh spot.

Prior to the season starting, Westfield’s football team was ranked No. 7 in the county by NJ.com, but following the team’s victory against last year’s state champ, Elizabeth, the team’s ranking jumped to No. 1.

Chris Hogge, Sean Elliott and Eugene Rawles all scored a touchdown each for the Blue Devils in the Thursday night game. Rawles ran for 203 yards, while Hogge had 57 and Elliot, 44, according to NJ.com.

“The Blue Devils’ win was the most impressive and had the fewest red flags,” the article stated.

The team takes on Hillsborough on Saturday at 2 p.m. Hillsborough lost 31-21 last week against Phillipsburg.
