Thieves Steal Items, Money From 10 Cars On Same Day In Westfield
The items range from a few dollars to designer sunglasses.
WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Police Department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles after 12 burglaries took place on the same day earlier this month.
Officials say on Sept. 2, a wide range of items and money were stolen out of 10 of the 12 vehicles that were all left unlocked:
- 700 block of Carleton Rd. ($7.00 in coins)
- 700 block of Carleton Rd. ($10.00 in coins)
- 700 block of Carleton Rd (No items taken)
- 100 block of Washington St. (One CD)
- 800 block of Carleton Rd. (One registration and one insurance card)
- 800 block of Carleton Rd. (Miscellaneous items valued at $100.00)
- 800 block of Tice Pl. (A bottle of Ralph Lauren cologne valued at $20.00)
- 700 block of Summit Ave. (A pair of Ray Ban sunglasses valued at $250.00)
- 800 block of Carleton Rd. (Two packs of cigarettes valued at $22.00)
- 900 block of Tice Pl. (A large bag of candy valued at $30.00)
- 800 block of Tice Pl. ($2.00 in coins)
- 600 block of Summit Ave. (No items taken)
"We strongly encourage our residents to remove any valuables from their vehicles during the overnight hours and to always lock them when left unattended," adds Police Chief Christopher Battiloro. "And, as always, we also ask that they immediately report suspicious persons, vehicles and/or activities immediately to the police via 9-1-1."
