Westfield 911 System Upgrade Moves Forward
The ways emergencies are reported will look different.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The move to incorporate text-to-911 abilities for residents around Westfield took a step forward on Tuesday.
Town Council unanimously approved a resolution that awarded a contract to Motorola Solutions for a multi-year lease of their Vesta 911 software. The emergency call management program also includes enhanced cybersecurity, a streamlined map technology, and AI assistance.
The cost for the new system is estimated at $71,836.24.

In order for the program to function properly, new equipment and services are also required. This includes synchronization equipment, advanced monitoring, and other devices.
On Tuesday, Town Council also unanimously approved a resolution awarding a contract to Monmouth Telecom for these additions. The equipment is estimated to cost $21, 738.50, while the service-based upgrades are budgeted for $55,824.
