Westfield Area Y Hosts 90th Anniversary Celebration
Free activities are available for the community.

The Westfield Area YMCA is celebrating its 90th anniversary this week with free festivities for the entire community.
On Sunday, the Y will host a free celebration inside the Y and outside on Ferris Place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. featuring obstacle courses, a bounce house, an indoor climbing wall, sand art, balloon art, face painting, trivia, prizes, giveaways and much more. The festivities will also have free refreshments, including hot dogs, fruit, popcorn and ices donated by Uncle Louie G and Ice Cream of Westfield.
The Y will also host a family movie night as part of the celebration on Sept. 20 at dusk in the Elm Street field across form Stop & Shop. The movie, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, will screen in partnership with Spencer Bank. The first 500 families to attend will receive a free gift.
A Tae Kwon Do open house will take place on Sept. 21 at the Robert & Virginia Bauer Family Branch. Free demonstrations, seminars, and instructor meetings will run from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Lastly, on Sept. 24 the Y will speak about back to school health with breakfast and snack options courtesy of Heather Marino, MS, RD, from Shoprite in Garwood.
