Westfield Grad Earns Gold Medal In National Latin Exam

Westfield High School recent graduate, Jameson Maher, earned a gold medal on the National Latin Exam for four consecutive years.

Westfield High School recent graduate, Jameson Maher, earned a gold medal on the National Latin Exam for four consecutive years, it was announced by the University of Mary Washington, which administers the exam.

“Choosing to study Latin freshman year was one of the best decisions of my high school career,” stated Maher. “I enjoy the chance to learn about ancient cultures, but I am always surprised to see how often knowing Latin is useful in everyday life.”

Maher also won the gold award on the National Spanish exam in his junior year. In addition, he earned membership in the National Honors Society and the National Spanish Honors Society. During his high school career, he also excelled at athletics, and has been the winner for four consecutive years of the Coach’s Award for swimming.
