Edison Intermediate School students in Alison Hooper’s Fine Arts class in Westfield learned a new painting technique from Chatham artist, Philla Barkhorn, during the last days of the school year.
Beginning with a black canvas, white charcoal pencils were used to lightly sketch in a piece of fruit. Acrylic paints were applied using quick, angular strokes to show the shadows and highlights creating a realistic form that looked good enough to eat.
