Westfield Water Main Cleaning Beginning Later this Month

The Town of Westfield said it will be undergoing water main cleaning later this month.

The Westfield Town Council was presented with a plan to clean and line more than 10,000 feet of water main in Westfield.

The water main cleaning project plans to clean and line 14,000 feet of water main in the town, according to a report from TAPinto.net. The project will improve water quality and fire flow, TAPinto.net reported.

Before the project can commence, the water main must be shut down. According to TAPinto.net, temporary above-ground piping will be installed to service West Grove Street, Boulevard, Tice Place, Carleton Road, Summit Avenue, Cherokee Court, Tudor Oval, Midvale Terrace/Way and Doris Parkway.

Interruptions to water service will occur both when connection to the temporary water piping is initially performed and when service is reconnected to the newly cleaned water main at the conclusion of the project, TAPinto.net said.

Work on the project will take place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday over the next several weeks, TAPinto.net said. Traffic control will be coordinated with the Westfield Police Department.
