Bergen County Software Engineer Faces Additional Charges After 9-Year-Old Victim Steps Forward
The 41-year-old man is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with children as young as 3-years-old.

Police say the Bergen County software engineer who was arrested for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with toddlers is now facing additional charges after another victim came forward.
William Kooney, 41, of Teaneck, was first arrested on March 7 after members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Teaneck Police Department learned he allegedly “engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with several male and female acquaintances ranging in age from 3-to-5-years-old,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
The victims’ parents learned of the inappropriate sexual activity and contacted the Teaneck Police Department, who then notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Arrangements were made for the victims to be interviewed by a Special Victims Unit detective at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, where they provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Kooney, Molinelli said.

Less than a week later, the father of a 9-year-old boy contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office to report Kooney allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with his son.
After the boy provided specific details during an interview with a detective from the Special Victims Unit, Kooney was served the additional complaint at the Bergen County Jail, according to Molinelli.
