Prize Goes to First Baby Born at Westwood Hospital

Any local moms who had the foresight or fortune to get pregnant nine months ago could luck out if their baby is the first born at HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley after they open Saturday morning.

The family of the first baby born at the hospital will win a gift basket from Babies R Us with close to 20 items "essential to new parents" including a monitor, walker, diaper, bibs, rattles, bath set, etc.

HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley is set to open at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. The hospital's maternity ward features private rooms, each with its own shower, TV and Wi-Fi. They have maternal fetal medicine, neonatology, six labor and deliver rooms, two C-section delivery rooms and Level II NICU bassinets available.

"Our maternity unit is by far the most elaborate maternity unit that I’ve seen," hospital CEO Chad Melton said in a press release. "Aside from the beautiful design and concierge service we will offer our patients, our dedicated and friendly team of health care professionals provides new families with a nurturing environment to experience one of life’s most precious moments."
