'Green Screen' Film Festival Coming to Westwood

The Westwood Library's "Green Screen" film festival will show six movies, including Sundance winner Chasing Ice, starting later this month.

The annual festival features films with themes of sustainability and other environmental issues. One movie will be screened each day, starting January 31 with a pre-party event at Bibi'z and a showing of Chasing Ice at Westwood Cinemas.

Chasing Ice follows National Geographic photographer James Balog as he documents melting polar glaciers. Other movies scheduled to be shown include Bag It, about pollution from plastic bags, Fresh, about food and small farms, Idle Threat, about cars idling in New York City, Planeat, about healthy eating and Dear Governor Cuomo, about activists' efforts to ban "fracking" in New York.

Movies shown at the library are free. Those screened at Westwood Cinemas cost $10. Admission to the pre-party event costs $25. Tickets and a full schedule of the festival are available here on the library's website.
