'Green Screen' Film Festival Starts Thursday

The Westwood Library will screen six documentaries as part of its annual "Green Screen" fim festival starting Thursday night.

The annual festival features films with themes of sustainability and other environmental issues. One movie will be screened each day, starting with a pre-party event at Bibi'z and a showing of Sundance winner Chasing Ice at Westwood Cinemas.

Tickets to the festival are still available on the library's website. A full festival ticket costs $35, tickets for single movies at Westwood Cinemas are $10. Movies screened at the library are free.

Chasing Ice follows National Geographic photographer James Balog as he documents melting polar glaciers. Other movies scheduled to be shown include Bag It, about pollution from plastic bags, Fresh, about food and small farms, Idle Threat, about cars idling in New York City, Planeat, about healthy eating and Dear Governor Cuomo, about activists' efforts to ban "fracking" in New York.
