Here's a look at the past week in Westwood, Washington Township and Hillsdale.

New Westwood Hospital Invites Community to Open House

HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley is planning to hold an open house for the public May 18.

The event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature "entertainment, food and tours of the brand new, state-of-the-art facility," according to hospital rep Lauren Zaccardi Samman.

Pascack Valley Regional Robotics Team Heading to World Championships

The joint robotics team of Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills High Schools will be competing in the "FIRST Robotics Competition" championships in St. Louis this week.

The team previously won at a state competition and scored enough points at a regional competition against students from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Deleware to get them a place in the championships, according to Pascack Valley Regional Board of Education member James Hall.

The Pascack Valley Pi-oneers wil be competing against about 2,500 other teams from around the world, Hall said.

Three New Businesses Opening in Washington Town Center

Original Pizza, Dunkin Donuts and Eye Level Learning Center are all set to open in Washington Township's Washington Town Center strip mall soon.

Eye Level was approved by the Planning Board earlier this month. Original Pizza and Dunkin Donuts, which both previously existed in the mall, were approved in late February.

The owners of all three businesses pointed to May 1 as their targeted opening date.

'Here Comes the Sun' Salon Owners Return to Westwood

A new hair salon in downtown Westwood offers service from an experienced team who previously ran a similar business in town years ago.

Glow Hair Designers, located at 178 Center Ave., is owned by Santos and Donna Scuderi, the same team who owned Here Comes the Sun, which opened in Westwood during the 1970s.

Laura Rifkin, the new director of the Washington Township Library, recently appeared in an interview on WCTV.

In the interview, Rifkin spoke new programming like book clubs for adults, tech classes and informative speakers they're hosting.

Pascack Valley Seasonal Businesses Opening For Spring

It's officially been spring for about a month now, and local seasonal businesses are planning to open their doors as the weather seems to have finally caught up with the calendar.

Demarest Farms in Hillsdale is set to open for the season April 25.

Conrad's Confectionery in Westwood recently closed down for their annual transition to ice cream parlor, but they'll be reopening May 1.

A new farmers market is also set to come to Westwood every Saturday starting April 27.
