BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The Joan’s Joy Foundation is holding an on-line Mardi Gras-themed "Virtual Vendor party" this coming Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. to promote child safety and all children who deal with challenges.

The group was named for Joan D'Alessandro, who was killed by a neighbor in Hillsdale at age 7 in 1973 while delivering Girl Scout cookies.

Her mother, Rosemarie, has fought for more than 50 years to keep her killer in jail and to protect other children.
