Minnesota Man Sought For Sexually Assaulting Teen In 3 Bergen County Towns: Prosecutor
A Minnesota man charged for sexually assaulting a teen in 3 Bergen County towns never showed up for court, prosecutors say.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Detectives are searching for Jed D. Phykitt, a former Bergen County resident who's wanted for sexually assaulting a teen in three local towns in the early 1990s, prosecutors said.
Phykitt, 59, who most recently lived in Dalton, Minn., was arrested in February 2025 and charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
He was charged for assaulting a child between ages 13 and 16 on multiple occasions during 1990 and 1991, prosecutors said.

The assaults took place in Washington Township — where Phykitt used to live — as well as Hillsdale and Westwood, prosecutors said.
Phykitt was arrested in February in his Minnesota town by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department after months of investigation, prosecutors said.

He was taken to prison to await extradition to Bergen County.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was later notified that the court released him to await his extradition hearing, which was scheduled for Aug. 4.
But he failed to show up.
He's now wanted by the Otter Tail Sheriff's Department for failure to appear, as well as the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
