Pascack Valley Seasonal Businesses Opening For Spring

It's officially been spring for about a month now, and local seasonal businesses are planning to open their doors as the weather seems to have finally caught up with the calendar.
Demarest Farms in Hillsdale is set to open for the season April 25.Â
They will be offering a variety of gardening items including mulch, perennials and herbs for the rest of the month and May, according to their list of what's in season.

In June, the farm will start offering different berries, tomatoes, squash and other veggies.Â
Conrad's Confectionery in Westwood recently closed down for their annual transition to ice cream parlor, but they'll be reopening May 1.

They'll be offering the following flavors this year, according to J.J. Krachtus: vanilla, chocolate, chocolate chip mint, coffee, Â cocoa mocha, maple walnut, butter pecan, strawberry, peach, raspberry, lemon, raspberry, chocolate chip, cookies and cream, cookie d-oh!, chocolate chip, folk song mule (peanut butter ice cream with graham crackers and chocolate chips), sea turtle (caramel ice cream with sea salt and chopped up candy turtles), as well as orange sherbet and mango sorbet.
A new farmers market is also set to come to Westwood every Saturday starting soon. [Editor's note: The starting date of the market has been postponed. We'll let you know when it's set.]Â
The market, which is being organized by the Westwood Chamber of Commerce, will feature local vendors selling food and demonstrations from chefs, according to chamber Executive Director Joseph Abou-Daoud.
The market will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays in the commuter parking lot at the Municipal Complex.
