Man Walking On Parkway Fatally Struck After Attending Wedding
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday on the Garden State Parkway in Woodcliff Lake.
WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ - After attending a family wedding Saturday evening, a 30-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle the following morning on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said.
Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Samuel Gottheim, a resident of Santa Clara, California, was walking in the northbound left lane of the Parkway when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle operated by a New York man, according to New Jersey State Police.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.

Gottheim, a native of Ardsley, NY, was in Bergen County to attend a wedding Saturday evening, according to his father.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Bruce Gottheim wrote, "My son Sam was tragically killed in a traffic accident early this morning . The loss for his mother , brother , all his friends and relatives and me is devastating and totally surreal. He was a wonderful 30 year old man who was just starting his life . We will miss him forever."

According to Gottheim's LinkedIn page, he has been a process engineer at Applied Materials in Santa Clara since January 2018. Prior to that, Gottheim earned a doctorate from Rice University in 2017 and a bachelor's degree from Muhlenberg College in 2011.
A funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
