A registered sex offender from Newark is back in custody after he violated a court order to stay off social media websites, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Thaddeus Gill, 46, a former Lodi resident, was sentenced in 2002 for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl in Passaic County, according to the state sex offender database. His sentence of lifetime community supervision barred him accessing social media.

Investigators learned Gill was using a variety of screen names online including “TGil,” ”Tgil3036” and “Thad Gi,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a statement. The Hillsdale Police Department provided additional support in the form of Computer Crimes Task Force personnel, according to Molinelli.

Gill remained held at the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail, with no ten percent option after being arrested Monday, Molinelli said.

Anyone who communicated with the accounts online was asked to contact the prosecutor’s office at 201-646-2300.
