Two River Vale Police Officers Promoted

The River Vale Police Department recently celebrated the promotions of two officers.

RIVER VALE, NJ - The River Vale Police Department recently celebrated the promotions of two officers.

At the Jan. 13 township council meeting, Peter Martin advanced from the rank of Detective Sergeant to Lieutenant, while Jared Arcidiacono went from Detective to Sergeant. The two were sworn in by Municipal Judge Vincent Galasso surrounded by their colleagues, family and friends.

Martin joined the River Vale Police Department in 1995 and was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2010. In 2018, he was promoted to Detective Sergeant, according to the department.

“I am excited to begin my new role and work with the top-notch command staff of the River Vale Police Department” said he said.

Martin was received extensive training in the areas of criminal investigations, domestic violence, evidence management and many more, as well as several awards and commendations.

He is the department’s Domestic Violence Liaison Officer, senior Firearms Instructor and Property and Evidence Control Officer. Lt. Martin oversaw the implementation and officer training for many new directives and guidelines over the past several years. Additionally, he has served as President and State Delegate for Pascack Valley PBA Local 206 and is the Director of the River Vale Police Officer’s Association.

Arcidiacono joined the River Vale Police Department in 2008 after graduating from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. During his time on the force he has served as a field training officer and domestic violence liaison officer.

“I look forward to my new position and am excited to be working with a new partner in the Detective Bureau,” Arcidiacono said.

In 2018, Arcidiacono was assigned to the Detective Bureau and has conducted multiple criminal investigations. He is also the department’s Bullet Proof Vest Coordinator, Records Retention Officer and has been an instructor at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute and with the River Vale Junior Police Academy. During his career, he has received several awards and commendations. Additionally, Arcidiacono has served as Vice President of Pascack Valley PBA Local 206 and is an Alternate Captain and Treasurer of the New Jersey State PBA Hockey Team.
