Two Seek Unexpired Hillsdale School Board Seat

Board President James Hayden is also running unopposed to claim a new full term.

Hillsdale residents will have two candidates to choose from for a one-year unexpired term on the Hillsdale Board of Education in November.

Krista Flinn, who was appointed to the seat in March, must get the backing from voters in order for her to keep the position for the final year of the term. Liz Santos is also seeking the seat.

Flinn is a former class mom and co-president of the Meadowbrook FFA with two children in the district and another at Pascack Valley High School.

Santos also comes from the MFFA, where she is the vice president of membership and helps organize the Blue Jean Ball. She has one child already in the district and a second starting kindergarten in the fall.

She is also a teacher in Northvale, which she said would make her useful with her experience in instituting new state requirements for testing and curriculum.

Hillsdale also has one seat on the Pascack Valley Regional Board of Education up for election this year. Board member Nadine Timpanaro is running unopposed for the position.

Election day is November 5.
