PARK RIDGE, NJ - A New Jersey police officer rescued an elementary student from being hit by a car backing out of a school parking lot earlier this month, according to a video released by the local police department.

The quick actions of Michael Stallone, a Class III Special Law Enforcement Officer who was recently assigned to West Ridge Elementary School in Park Ridge, “prevented a child from being seriously injured” in the June 6 incident, police said.

Recognizing that the child could be pinned between two cars as one of the vehicles was pulling out of the school parking lot, the officer quickly jumped in to help, police said.
