Westwood Man Allegedly Attacked Coworker With Corkscrew

Hillsdale Police charged Junior Nunez-Batista with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Hillsdale Police arrested a 36-year-old Westwood man after he allegedly cut a coworker's face with a corkscrew early Tuesday morning.

Junior Nunez-Batista was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Police Officer William Diedtrich.

Nunez-Batista and the victim were coworkers who went out for drinks after work, Diedtrich said. The two men had an argument over an undetermined subject and then Nunez-Batista allegedly attacked the victim with a corkscrew in the street at the intersection of Broadway and Harrington Street.

When police arrived, they found the victim bleeding from his face. He was driven to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Police found Nunez-Batista at his home in Westwood, where he confessed to the attack, according to Diedtrich.

Bail was set at $2,500 with a 10 percent option. Nunez-Batista was released after posting bail and is due back in Hillsdale Municipal Court.
