Business Fire Reported In Carteret Sunday Evening, Fire Officials Say

AVENEL, NJ - Central Jersey firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a commercial building in Carteret Sunday evening, fire officials said.

The blaze, which took place on the 1500 block of Roosevelt Avenue, occurred at around 6 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the Avenel local firefighters union.

According to Central Jersey Fire Buffs, smoke could be seen emerging from the ground floor of 1514 Roosevelt Avenue in what appeared to be a kitchen fire. The ground floor business is Downtown Deli Cafe.

As of Monday morning, Downtown Deli Cafe did not answer several phone calls to the storefront.
