Exhibit Showcasing Women's Suffrage Movement

To mark the 90th anniversary of the constitutional amendment which gave women the right to vote, county Executive DennisMcNerney and the Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women will sponsor an exhibit honoring legendary women in celebration of Women's Equality Day.

The exhibit officially opens at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at 1 Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack, in the first floor lobby.

This year, the Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women 2009-10 Junior Commissioners has created an exhibit of those in the forefront of the struggle for women's rights. including Elizabeth Cady Stanton of Tenafly, who, in her, "Declaration of Sentiments," wrote it was the sacred duty of women to pursue the right to vote.
